yesterday and today i had the good fortune to be in the presence of the numinous
some of it was "inanimate" objects - a huge pounamu that lives in the Marae space at Te Papa our national museum and the exhibition of korowai or cloaks that were on display (felt more like deigning to show themselves they had so much power)
and most of it was being in the presence of my friend Vicki... she is really a light in this world, a path maker, a challenger of accepted wisdoms and a deep deep well of goodness.
she spent the afternoon with the police supporting a woman who has been treated as less than holy
she spent the evening with me eating at a sushi train and talking about things that matter
she has secondaries from breast cancer and has outlived her predicted time by years
purely because of her spirit and her wisdom and her unflinching commitment to what she believes in
today i spend time with her, with old friends, with a new friend
and i am grateful to be in the presence of this radiant numinosity called life with all of my heart (well a little bit is at home with Willow on what is her hardest day at school - the cross country) but i will try to send her a mainline to the numinous so she is powered by light to get around those muddy feilds!)
